In an interview with the media United We Stand, Manchester United coach Ten Hag answered the question of signings. He denied the view that he “only signs players who have played in the Eredivisie”.
Ten Hag said: “This is an opinion, it is just used to express an idea. Has Casemiro played in the Eredivisie? Eriksen played in the Eredivisie ten years ago, and he later Tottenham and Inter. Some have linked Mount with the Eredivisie, where he was just a developing young player. For me, Mount is the most intriguing young player in the Premier League and There’s only one year left on the contract. It’s a great opportunity to sign a very good 24-year-old player, and it has nothing to do with the Eredivisie.”
“And if you sign players from Ajax, you look at their history. They’ve sent a lot of talent to the top clubs in the world and it’s a very long list.”
Among Manchester United’s signings in the past two seasons, Anthony, Lisandro Martinez, and Malacia were purchased directly from the Eredivisie, while Hoylen, Mount, Eriksen, and Onana had Experience in the Eredivisie. Among the loaned players, Verhorst and Amrabat have also played in the Eredivisie before.
