Official: Shevchenko elected as new Ukrainian Football Federation president

Today, the Ukrainian Football Association officially announced that Milan star and former Ukrainian national team coach Shevchenko was elected as the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association.

The 47-year-old Shevchenko was elected as the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association with 93 votes in favor and 1 vote against. As a player, he played for Dynamo Kyiv, AC Milan and Chelsea. He won many championships including the Champions League, European Super Cup and Serie A. He represented the Ukrainian national team 111 times and scored 48 goals. Won the Golden Globe Award in 2004.

After retiring, Shevchenko served as an assistant coach of the Ukrainian national team and served as the coach of the Ukrainian national team from 2016 to 2021. His best result was leading the team to the top 8 in the 2020 European Cup. Since then He also briefly coached Genoa.

Previous media reports stated that Shevchenko is the only candidate for the Ukrainian Football Association chairman election.
