Berbatov: I’m a bit biased towards Martial, he needs people around him to wake him up

Manchester United star Berbatov said in an interview that Martial needs to change the way he plays if he wants to prove that he can be part of ten Hag’s plans.

Berbatov said that he supports Martial. Martial needs the encouragement of his teammates and it is dangerous to stagnate.

Berbatov said: “I really hope Martial has a future at Manchester United. I am a bit biased towards him because I have played with him and I have seen what he is capable of. He has to make some adjustments and sometimes He needs to work on the pressure and change the way he plays.

“I’ve seen in the last few games that he does that, he presses, his body language is angry and he’s tough on the opponent.”

Martial has been at Manchester United for more than eight years and many fans have been disappointed with his performances. The 27-year-old Martial missed more than 30 games last season due to injury, including the League Cup and FA Cup finals. Martial has managed to stay fit during regular games after returning from injury. Berbatov believes he now needs the club to help him.

Berbatov said: “When you stay at a club for a long time you become complacent and you need people around you to wake you up and say, ‘Look, you have a lot of ability but you’re not using it correctly. Wake up. , stand up and do more for the team.”

Martial is Hoylen’s substitute this season. He has started 4 times in 15 games and scored 1 goal.

Martial’s contract expires in the summer of 2024, meaning he can negotiate with other teams in January if his optional one-year extension is not triggered. Martial’s clause may also be activated, so that Manchester United can receive a transfer fee in next summer window.

Ten Hag is open to a move away from Martial, who now faces a race against time to save his United career. With Hoylen’s fitness yet to be determined, he could be available against Everton at the weekend.
